ACTING ACTION
Acting Action Ltd. supplied rapiers and smallswords for the research and development and early rehearsals of Quentin Tarantino’s swashbuckling play, The Popinjay Cavalier, coming soon to the Phoenix Theatre, with BASSC teacher Philip D’Orléans as fight director.
Acting Action Ltd and Stage Fight Scotland have successfully run The Claymore Action Workshop for the second time. This year, we called it The Schiavona, after the distinctive basket-hilted sword originating in Italy.
It took place at the stunning Accademia Dell’Arte in Arezzo, Tuscany, with accommodation and food provided by the academy.
The workshop featured a team of leading international teachers and action performers: Philip Sahagun (US), Siobhan Richardson (Canada), Simone Belli (Italy), and Joseph Roark of Amalgam Sword Company (US), offering exceptional training in sword fighting, stage combat, martial arts and movement.

Jonathan and Zhenya were part of the teaching team at the Annual Stage Combat Workshop at Louisiana Tech University, an event hosting 150 students, 35 teachers, and 40 daily classes.

The event featured an outstanding line-up, including Joey Ansah, Paul Macdonald, Anita Nittoly, Suzanne Smith CDG, Travis Staton-Marrero, Lucy Wild (Frantic Assembly), Tetsuro Shimaguchi and Hiromi Matsumura, and even a Q&A with legendary fight coordinator and BASSC Master-at-Arms Richard Ryan.
